Summit Lake / South Akron

A collaboration with South Street Ministries

An immersive ten-week program with young women in South Akron to build relationships, explore self-identity, and create an original performance. The curriculum includes Theatre of the Oppressed (TO) exercises such as the Living Newspaper, Image Theatre, and Forum Theatre. Each week, there is TO in practice, active reflection, and free meditation time.

I believe that all the truly revolutionary theatrical groups should transfer to the people the means of production in the theater so that the people themselves may utilize them. The theater is a weapon, and it is the people who should wield it.
— Augusto Boal, 1993
